Children of Earth - Day Four

Ianto: Listens. Runs. Kneels. Holds. Works on the computer. Asks questions. Suffers in silence. Records the meeting of the political gathering. Watches. Repeats out loud what is written by the contact in shorthand. Cries. Talks. Listens. Waits. Is back to work on the computer. Continues to repeat out loud what is written by the contact. Takes a gun. Follows Jack. Jumps into the car. Jumps out of the car. Walks on foot. Calls his sister. Tells her the truth. Knows his phone is bugged. Tells her he loves them all. Hangs up. Calls Gwen. Tells her they are here. Puts his hands up. Shows his gun. Stands face to face with the aliens. Interferes Jack's speech. Aims a gun at the aliens. Shoots. Argues. Falls. Cries. Confides. Dies. Janto: Runs over to Jack. Holds him lying there shot and dead. Keeps holding Jack coming back to life. Addresses Jack about the past. Suffers because of what Jack had done. Confronts him in private. Is lectured. Is left behind to cope with the matter alone. When Jack is back Gwen mentions Jack's family. Ianto looks at him. Jack says nothing about it. Jack decides to go and stand up to the aliens. Ianto follows him without hesitation. In the car. On foot. Arrives with Jack. Ianto and Jack are face to face with the aliens. Talking. Shoots with Jack at the glass. Breathes the poison. Falls to the ground. Is caught by Jack. Lies in his arms. Weeps. Jack weeps, too. Ianto declares his love. Jack caresses Ianto's cheek. Ianto weakens. Jacks screams his name, again and again. He shakes Ianto. Ianto looks at him. Jack caresses his cheek. Jack is choking with tears. He promises Ianto to never forget him. Ever. Ianto chokes. Ianto dies. Jack kisses him on the lips. Jack dies. Jack comes back to life. Gwen is there. She sits next to Ianto's body. She and Jack mourn his death.

Ianto: "No. You pretend that's all there is."
Jack: "I've lived a long time. I have done a lot of things. I've gotta go. I won't be long."
Ianto: "You're doing it again. Speak to me, Jack. Where are you going?"
Jack: "To call Frobisher. I can't make the call from here 'cause they'll be able to trace it. Is that okay?"
Ianto: "You're the boss."
Jack: "And just so you know, I have a daughter called Alice, and a grandson called Steven and Frobisher took them hostage yesterday."

Jack: "Let's go stand up to them."
Ianto: "Yes, sir."

Soldier: "I've found Jones. We can assume Harkness is nearby."

Jack: "We've gotta get you out of here. I can survive anything, but you can't!"
Ianto: "Too late. I breathed the air."
Jack: "There's gotta be something. There's gotta be an antidote!"
456: "You said you would fight."
Jack: "Then I take it back, all right? I take it all back. But not him!" - "No! No, no, no, no, no. No, Ianto. No." - "It's all my fault."
Ianto: "No it's not."
Jack: "Don't speak, save your breath."
Ianto: "I love you, I..."
Jack: "Don't. Ianto. Ianto. Ianto, stay with me. Ianto, stay with me, please. Stay with me! Stay with me, please. Please."
Ianto: "Hey... It was good, yeah?"
Jack: "Yeah."
Ianto: "Don't forget me."
Jack: "Never could."
Ianto: "A thousand years' time, you won't remember me."
Jack: "Yes, I will. I promise. I will." - "Ianto. Ianto? Don't go. Don't leave me, please. Please, don't."

Innuendo:
Ianto doesn't know how to handle Jack's cruel actions in the past. He loves Jack, sure, but how can he love a man who did what Jack had done?
He calls Jack boss to distance himself and to show him he is hurt. He struggles with his feelings.
He tells Gwen and Rhys about Jack's family while Jack was out alone, though Jack isn't even pissed about that. Maybe because he knows, Ianto was right.
In the end Jack had listened to what Ianto had said and prepares to stand up to the aliens. There is no doubt Ianto is coming along. Even the pursuers
know that Jones and Harkness only come in pairs, don't they? A couple indeed.
On the way Ianto calls his sister and talks about how much he loves her and her family. Does he feel what is coming? Does he know he is doomed? Oh my!
When he is dying Ianto doesn't waste a second, tells Jack that he loves him, not matter what who he is and what he had done. He also wants to know if it was good,
well, if he was good. Jack assures him, of course, and makes the most heart-wrenching promise. And he meant it. Yeah, he did.

Gwen:
Ianto trusted Gwen with the knowledge about Jack's family. Gwen says, Take care, when Ianto goes with Jack. Gwen weeps for Ianto.

My Comment:
I love it. I hate it. All those great emotions and then they destroy everything by killing Ianto off. Fuck it! I cried for days. I still cry everytime I watch this episode.
I will never be over his death. Crying now, writing this. Yeah. One of the best TV ever, and one of the worst. With the only canon gay couple I was ever rooting for.
(except MOONLIGHT!) Right! Such a waste. Janto could have been unique. Well, they are anyway and always will be.
