First Scene:
BREAK ROOM:
Nick is sitting at the table working on something. Grissom comes in, drinking coffee, complaining it tastes like motor oil. He picks up the pot of coffee. From straight down the hallway, Greg runs in. He stops in front of Grissom, telling him, this is his pot, his coffee from his own private stash. He picks up the coffee bag, shows it to Grissom. Grissom pours himself a cup, anyway. He turns and offers Nick a cup also. Nick doesnīt want one. He keeps scratching his lower leg, where something might have bit him. He opens a bottle of rubbing alcohol on the table and begins to soak up the cotton wipe. Grissom is drinking his coffee and reading the back of the coffee bag. Greg reaches for the coffee pot, pours himself a cup and sees Nick do this. He says alcohol on a bug bite is like butter on burns. Nick is definitely rubbing the alcohol on the bug bite. This is the guy who told me to put hemorrhoid cream on my acne, he snaps. Grissom smiles at this. Greg says, It worked, didn't it? Then he grabs his bag of Blue Hawaiian coffee out of Grissomīs hands and leaves the room. Grissom admits, that the coffee is pretty good. Second Scene:
INT. CSI - GREG'S LAB:
Grissom appears in the room. He glances down at his watch, and nags heīs already waiting for 24 minutes. Greg explains with all the impurities in Braunīs system it might take a little extra time to test the blood. To pass the time, he asks Grissom, if he ever told him he used to live in New York. Grissom is not interested. The mass spectrometer beeps and spews out the test results. Greg reads them to Grissom. Finished, his boss starts to leave the room, but stops as he passes Gregīs desk. Suddenly, he just gotta ask what the point of Gregīs New York story was. Gregs tells him about another way to take heroin. Seeing Grissomīs strange look, Greg decides to break off. Grissom leaves, looking a bit shocked. Third Scene:
INT. CSI -- LAB:
Greg is standing in front of a machine processing the sample. Grissom and
Catherine are standing one on each side of him waiting for the results. The machines prints out the report. Itīs not a match to the suspect. Catherine and Grissom discuss a new suspicion. Best Dialog:
Grissom: "It's been 24 minutes, Greg. When's this thing going to be done?"
Greg: "Well, with all due respect, sir, it's not a baked potato. It's Braun's blood and with all the impurities in his system it might take a little extra time. ---- Did I ever tell you I used to live in New York?"
Grissom: "Is this going to be a short story or a novel?"
....The mass spectrometer beeps and spews out the test results.....
Grissom starts to leave the room, but stops as he passes Gregīs desk. He's just gotta ask ...
Grissom: "... and the point of your New York story was ... ?"
Greg: "Oh, I was just going to tell you about another way to take heroin -- a suppository up the coolee. You just stand on your head, and then you let gravity...
Off Grissomīs strange look, Greg decides to...
Greg: "... forget it."
My Comment:
A classic Greggo episode with two of the best Greg/Grissom scenes ever. I watched them over and over again. First, we learn which coffee brand Greg likes to drink. And itīs obvious, he doesnīt like anyone else to drink "his" coffee. No wonder considering the price of the coffee - $40 a pound. Oh boy! Grissom drinks it anyway, then he even offers Nick a cup. Next, he reads the bag of the coffee bag intently.
Very funny is Nickīs accusation, Greg told him once to put hemorrhoid cream on his acnee. (Grissom smiles at this!) Oh yeah? When did this happen? Years ago or just yesterday? Nick is talking about his acnee and heīs over thirty. That would mean Greg and Nick know each other for a long time.
Finally, after Greg has left, Grissom says "This (the coffee) is pretty good." OOOOH! Couldnīt he tell this to Gregīs face? By the way, Grissom looks quite disappointed, when Greg takes the coffee bag with him. Later, the cup of "Gregīs coffee" leaves the room with Grissom. That signifys, Grissom likes the coffee a lot.
The next Greg/Grissom scene is even funnier: Gregīs attempt to start a conversation and Grissomīs harsh rebuff, "Is this going to be a short story or a novel?" That was mean. Greg changes the subject quickly, and it speaks in Grissomīs favor this unsettles him a bit. Oh yes, it does. Watch his awkward expression closely. Besides, after listening to the results, he even stops to ask, "What was the point of your New York story?" That was nice. The "Another way to take heroin" answer makes me laugh every time I watch it. I never saw Grissom so utterly speechless before.
I like the shirt Greg is wearing in this episode.
