As planned Brandt kissed the female mark. He even appeared to enjoy himself and mastered the situation well. The mark was taken by his come-on.
Jane growled. Damn him! She had never enjoyed seducing strangers to make the mission work. Why was he able to do that? Well, yeah. He was a man. That's why. The target was beautiful. So, no mystery but a simple fact.
"Enjoying yourself?" she snarled at him as soon as they were alone in the hallway.
"Is there a problem?" He wiped his lips.
"Having a bit too much fun, don't you think?"
"Only the mission counts. You said so yourself." He grabbed her, pulling her close.
"What...?"
"Sorry, but I have to do this," he breathed into her ear. "Stay in character." Though the kiss that followed was too passionate and intimate to count as business. A flawless honeymoon kiss.
Jane was struggling a bit, yet she couldn't just pull away and blow their cover, could she?
"A show for our sneaky friend," Brandt explained, after breaking away, still holding her tight.
Seconds later, one Arabian bodyguard walked by, not saying a word. Only his eyes spoke volumes what he was thinking about their behavior in public.
She glared at Brandt. I didn't like that kiss. No way. "You only did that to teach me a lesson. Showing me who's in control."
"Yeah, sure. I wonder if anyone can control you."
"Don't push it, Brandt."
"Hey. That scumbag had to believe we're really a couple. That's all."
"Whatever. It was just a kiss. Not a good one either."
"Okay." He let go off her, shrugging her insult off.
His familiar nonchalance made her even angrier. "Let's go. Ethan is waiting."
"Sure! Hurry!"

The second kiss she and Brandt had to share in public the next morning rattled her even more. A lingering promise of... of what? Pull yourself together. She pinched him.
"Hey. Relax. Why so tense?"
"I know this mission is important, but I don't wanna seduce that bastard." She eyed the greasy arms-dealer sitting at the bar. "Not even kiss him once." She shuddered.
"I thought a kiss is not enough to disturb you."
"Depends on..." Fuck! She swallowed, tasting him deep.
"Come on. A bit more of practice doesn't harm." He put that to the test by kissing her gently. She trembled against him. He groaned and wriggled his tongue between her lips.
No, no, no. This is going too far. This is way beyond pretending. Yet she pushed her hips forward.
He broke away, panting. "Whoa. That was..."
"Shut up!" She touched her lips, wiping them.
He winced. "I'm not infective, you know."
"Don't even," she spat, crossing her arms. How dare him to kiss her like that. He didn't seem the type. He couldn't be the one who was able to get under her skin. No fucking way. Not an awkward analyst.
"Okay. On with the plan before I lose my cool."
"Sure. Whatever." You never do, she thought, pissed because he put the mission first, even though a good agent was supposed to do just that. Damn you.

At night, she and Brandt were lying side by side in one bed. Well, everything for the mission. Keeping up appearances was part of the job.
"Hey, don't be mad," he murmured. "I had to, okay? I had to make it look real."
"I got it, okay? Can we stop talking about the stupid matter?"
"Well," he breathed, "why are you still angry then?"
"Because of you."
"Uh... what else have I done?"
"Nothing. That's the problem."
Silence. Good. She gripped the covers, wrapping them tighter around herself. Not a sound from him. She thought he had given up until she felt him move, unwrapping her.
"Damn it, Jane. What is this? Are you a mummy?"
Before she could think of a proper reply, he was under the covers with her, with his lips nibbling at her neck. "W-what are y-you doing?"
"Something." He kissed her mute.
Once again she kept struggling a bit, yet she was kissing him back. He kissed her harder then, deeper, longer, and more intimate. He seized her breasts, caressing them subtly.
Her nipples got hard and sensitive. Traitors. "William," she gasped, lost for any more defensive words.
"That's my name," he quipped, pulling at her shirt.
"Stop, we can't..." She grabbed his shoulders and pulled him in. "Oh, damn you."
"We can." The shirt was gone. He suckled her left nipple between his lips, nipping. "This is necessary to make the mission work."
"Right." His passion turned her mind to mush. I'll regret this. I know I will. Oh, screw it. She wrapped her legs around him.
"Jane," he groaned. "That's not the way to make me stop."
"Shut up." She moved her hips in circles, feeling how wet she was.
"Okay. No problem," he murmured, and stripped his shorts off. "I can do that."

In the early morning both of their phones were ringing. Ethan called Jane. Benji called William. "Team meeting in fifteen minutes."
"Okay." Jane slipped from William's embrace and rushed to the bathroom.
William grimaced. Great! The fucked-up morning after a perfect night. Just remembering the utter bliss made him hard again. Shit! He forced himself to think about something unerotic. That wasn't easy with the bed so close and Jane naked in the bathroom. He was about to chase after her and just take...
She smashed to door open. Still naked she fetched her clothes. "Hurry. Ethan said in fifteen minutes."
"Yeah. Sure. Ethan." He didn't know why he snapped at her. Well. For an analyst he was pretty emotional.

Ethan and Benji were already waiting in the lobby. The laptop was in front of Benji. Ethan was drinking coffee. William and Jane rushed in together.
"Morning," Ethan cheered. "Having a good night's sleep? You look dazzling, Jane."
"No." Jane glared at him. "I don't."
"Ethan is right," William interfered. "You look stunning."
"Shut up, Brandt," she said, blushing.
"Hey." He grinned. "I'm wondering what the reason-"
Jane elbowed him hard.
"Ouch!" He dropped onto the lounge. "Okay, okay. Message received."
"Stop that," Ethan said, shaking his head. "Important mission to discuss."
"I'll make him shut up if he doesn't stop," Jane said, scowling.
William leaned into her. "I can hardly wait."
Jane rolled her eyes but focused on the mission right away. So, William did the same. He wasn't a lesser agent than she was, was he?
"What's going on?" Ethan asked, frowning. "Will we have a problem with you two working together?"
"Not at all," William deadpanned. He was a gentleman as well. He never talked about the women he slept with or intended to sleep with over and over again. He bit his lip remembering the things he and Jane had done recently. Gee! This is gonna be a long day. "We are ready. Right, Jane?"
"Always," she growled, though she was looking at Ethan.

The mission went well, except for the facts that Jane had to kiss a nasty criminal and Brandt almost got killed. Trivial things considering the danger they took on every day. So, the job was done. The team was celebrating. Ethan rattled on. Well, he was a bit of a show-off. Benji beamed. Jane giggled. Soon William couldn't take it anymore and left. In the hallway to his room, he heard her calling out his name.
"Will!"
He turned around, baffled. "What did you call me?"
"Will. A usual short form of William."
"Okay." He shrugged. "What's up?"
"Why did you leave?"
"I didn't think anybody would miss me. Ethan is there, right?" He opened the door and tried to shut it in her face. "Excuse me."
She stopped the door with her foot and went in with him. "Sometimes you act like a child."
"Yeah, you made it pretty clear what you think of me."
She pushed him against the wall. "You have no idea." She kissed him hard, ripping his shirt apart.
Whoa! He didn't mind the thing was ruined or that Ethan will be always the center of attention. He was the one being ravished by the woman he'd wanted from the very beginning. He was the one feeling his heart burst with pleasure.
Yeah. Perfection. To sum it up.
She chuckled.
"What?"
"I remembered the day we met."
"So?" He nibbled at her earlobe.
"Never before I've seen anyone looking this awkward and confident at the same time."
He smiled. "You consider me confident?"
"Except for your silly jealousy of Ethan."
"Well, I don't feel that confident around you."
"I didn't get that at all." She got a grip. "Just now I feel a lot of confidence."
"Hey!" He pretended to be struggling. "That's called a violation."
"Deal with it, agent man."
"Well, the mission always comes first, doesn't it?"
*****
"So?" Ethan joined Benji at the laptop. "Any news from the front?"
"The battle is fought. Everyone is a winner."
"Are you sure?"
"Definitely. She went to his room last night and never left."
"Could be they killed each other."
"It didn't sound like that."
"Benji! You didn't?"
"Only for a minute. Well, only for two minutes... or was it twenty?" Benji shrugged. "Time flies when you are at the computer."
